Principal’s Message

Dear teachers and students,

It is my pleasure to welcome all of you to the opening of another school year. I hope during the holidays, all of you have had time to rest, recharge your batteries and reflect on last year.

And so another year of inquiry and exploration starts; I am particularly happy at this point in time to welcome our F.1 students. We all look forward to working with you and watch you blossom in the coming six years of your St. Bonaventure experience. You will find out that in our school, you will be surrounded by a team of talented teachers, who care about your well-being and are passionate about offering you numerous opportunities that will, hopefully, help shape your personalities and further your education.

Being a St. Bonaventure student, as some of you already know, is an enriching experience that transcends school in its traditional sense. During the last 46 years, we have renewed our approach several times to stay current and move ahead. The steps we have taken towards that haven’t detracted us from our basic mission: to develop young individuals with active and creative minds, who have a sense of understanding and compassion for others, and the courage to act on their beliefs.

With this in mind, in addition to invaluable interactions with teachers and fellow students during lessons, you will be exposed this year to library sessions, a wide array of OLE activities, guest speakers who will provide you with insights into diverse issues. Extra lessons are going to be arranged after school where individualized attention will be provided when needed. This variety of resources, we are sure, will not only point to your potential and feed your hunger for knowledge but also prepare you for tertiary education, which will shape your future.

Finally, I’m proud to announce to you that our DSE results are improving, and the University admission rate climbed to 38%, but I believe there is still room for improvement. In view of this, as I introduced in the Closing Ceremony back in July, we are going to launch new measures and initiatives aimed at reinforcing the academic foundation of our students. Our committed teaching staff will work even harder this year to help you unlock your full academic potential and to do even better in your DSE exams.

With a total of some 800 students, we can be a strong family, one where teachers and students share the same mission and vision - 'Fraternity and Minority'.

I wish you all a fantastic and successful school year!

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-18)
